The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Responsibilities:
- Assists the Director of Rehabilitation Services in overseeing, planning, and coordinating rehabilitation programs for patients, and developing and implementing policies and procedures to meet departmental and strategic goals and objectives. Promotes and monitors quality improvement initiatives.
- Assesses quality of patient care and coordinates patient care services with patients, staff, physicians, and other departments.
- Responsible for maintaining knowledge of reimbursement regulations and prior authorization requirements as well as collaborating with the Rehabilitation department to update coding, maximizing prior authorization and reimbursement opportunities in line with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services ( CMS) regulations and empowering team and staff to meet these goals.
- Participates in the selection and purchase of major and minor capital equipment items.
- Responsible for acquiring, managing and ensuring optimal usage of consumable supply inventories for areas assigned.
- Works to reduce inventories and reduce costs through standardization and selection of lowest cost supplies consistent with acceptable levels of quality. Coordinates product selection process through active participation with staff.
- Attends and engages in leadership meetings and committees, such as those pertaining to infection control to remain current on communications and best practices.
- Ensures staff follow Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Joint Commission standards, and other regulatory guidelines.
- May cover shifts due to staffing shortages.
- Develops and monitors unit staffing patterns to ensure patient safety, quality care, productivity and excellent patient outcomes while meeting applicable standards. Responsible for providing leadership to personnel.
- Interviews and selects qualified applicants for open, budgeted positions within the guidelines set forth in Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Provides ongoing feedback to staff concerning their performance, implementing corrective action as needed and per human resource policy. Ensures performance evaluations are thorough, timely and include goal setting for each individual. Establishes systems for open communication and problem solving, encourages employee involvement in safety and health standards, hazard analysis, and performance improvement initiatives. Promotes growth and development in self and others. Develops and documents orientation and ongoing training programs for departmental personnel
- Effectively uses KRONOS time and attendance system and other human resource information systems and processes. Effectively interprets and implements Human Resource policies and consults with Human Resources as necessary. Encourages and supports applicable certification of all eligible staff.

Education, Training & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology required. Master's or Doctorate preferred.
- At least five (5) years of supervisory or managerial experience in a related area, and three (3) years relevant clinical experience required.
Certifications / Licensure:
- Valid NYS Professional Licensure in area of specialty
- Current BLS Certification
