JOB SUMMARY
The Principal serves as the instructional and operational leader of the school, providing vision and strategic direction to ensure academic excellence and equitable outcomes for all students. This role includes implementing the District's strategic plan, promoting social-emotional learning, and fostering a positive, inclusive school culture. The Principal is responsible for student and staff safety, effective instructional programs, staff development and evaluation, class scheduling, and budget management. Additionally, the role involves maintaining strong relationships with families, the community, and district personnel while overseeing extracurricular activities and ensuring compliance with district policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policy(ies), administrative regulations, and

- Builds self and school staff’s knowledge and expertise in effective instructional design and academic standards
- Develops teachers’ conceptual understanding of what students must know and be able to do and what instructional methods drive student mastery
- Develops knowledge of how standards map to curriculum and assessment
- Develops teachers to provide rigorous and high-quality instruction
- Leads analysis of and develops teachers’ ability to analyze student data to identify strategies that will move students toward mastery
- Ensures teachers can collaborate, analyze their practice and their student data, and adjust instruction in teams
- Leads whole-school professional learning that drives improvement in teacher practice
- Models expectations for leaders, teachers, and students on school-wide practices for creating a positive learning culture
- Engages and collaborates with families and the community to achieve the school’s mission and goals

- Sets the vision for school-wide operations, staffing, scheduling, testing and finance to ensure they are aligned with school and District goals and priorities

- Writes and presents reports at school board meetings
- Develops systems and structures to hire and retain diverse, highly-effective staff

- Prepares and administers annual building budget within District guidelines and ensures compliance with program requirements
- Assumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct and health of students
- Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records and inquiries
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises, evaluates and directs the work of classified, licensed and confidential employees in the elementary school according to District policy. Resolves grievances and other employee relations issues while working closely with the District office and disciplines employees appropriately. All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.
