What are the responsibilities and job description for the Theology Teacher position at St. Mary’s Ryken?
St. Mary’s Ryken seeks a theology teacher. The preferred candidate is a person of faith who is able to teach all levels of high school theology and has a great love for guiding young people to a deeper understanding of Catholic teaching.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with substantial experience in Catholic theology or philosophy
- B.A. or M.A. in theology from a Catholic college or university is preferred
- A minimum three years of high school teaching experience in theology is preferred, but not required
- Be a practicing Catholic in good standing
- Demonstrate a willingness to understand and commit to the mission of St. Mary’s Ryken and the Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools
- Possess the ability to present material in a variety of formats to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Demonstrate the ability to provide an authentic encounter with Jesus Christ through the academic study of theology
- Demonstrate the ability to integrate technology in the classroom
- Possess the knowledge and skills to develop and implement instructional programming according to the needs of the students and the established SMR curriculum
- Demonstrate the motivation to continue professional development to remain current with religious and academic certifications
- Commit to meeting Ministry Formation Certification and/or work towards certification or recertification as required by the Archdiocese of Washington
