St. Mary’s Catholic School Elementary Teacher- Job Description
The Elementary Teacher position will provide a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment for each child enrolled.
- Plan both long and short range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives; developmentally appropriate practices and program philosophy
- Provide various experiences and activities for children
- Supervise assigned school activities
- Develop activities that introduce cultural diversity, math and literacy concepts
- Be familiar with emergency policies, procedures and reports
- Meet emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child
- Assist at fundraising and social activities outside of the school day
- Complete assessments of children’s development
- Report progress of children to parents on report cards and through parent teacher conferences and midterm reports
- Maintain daily open communication with parents
- Maintain confidentiality
- Report any suspect abuse to Principal
- Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to the program goals and philosophy
- Maintain a safe, healthy and clean environment by following policies, procedures and safety rules
- Attend in service and staff meetings
- Keep all appropriate records
- Maintain student discipline
- Meet all applicable licensing regulation, continuing education requirements and Diocesan Policies
- Conduct instruction in assigned areas
- Follow the policies established by the governing board as provided in the employee handbook
- Work cooperatively with the Principal and Priest and others in the system
- Sign and adhere to Christian Witness Statement of the Diocese of Winona
- Complete Diocese of Winona VIRTUS training
- Reports to Principal
