The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) invites applications for two faculty positions: (1) Tenure Track, Assistant Professor position and (1) Tenure Track, Assistant/Associate position in the Department of Counseling and Human Services (CHS).


Position(s): One Assistant Professor of Counselor Education position and One Assistant/Associate Professor of Counselor Education, both with background experience and expertise in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.


Qualifications:

Minimum - Earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program (or have a related doctoral degree and have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2023); evidence of research and scholarship, professional service and leadership, and/or teaching and supervision related to clinical mental health counseling; ability to work collaboratively with other faculty to contribute to the continued growth and development of the counseling programs; membership in ACA and/or branch divisions, or other professional counseling organizations (e.g., AMHCA, APT); demonstrated commitment and advocacy for counseling diverse populations; and expertise compatible and complementary with counseling programs' focus in the needs of at-risk children, youth and families.


Preferred -Licensed or license eligible as a professional counselor in the state of Texas, including approval as an LPC Supervisor; counseling experience in clinical mental health setting(s); leadership involvement in ACA and/or branch divisions, or other professional counseling organizations (e.g., AMHCA, APT); success or potential for success in obtaining grant funding for research; and experience working with CACREP program accreditation.


Responsibilities: Teach core courses in Clinical Mental Health and Counselor Education and Supervision graduate programs, with focused teaching in research, trauma, and crisis. Advise and mentor master's and doctoral students, including directing doctoral dissertations. Maintain an active program of scholarship and research. Pursue external funding and engage in professional, university, and community service. The Assistant/Associate Professor position is designated for the individual to assume leadership as Program Director for the Counselor Education and Supervision (CES) Ph.D. program.
