St. Mary's University of San Antonio, a private, Catholic and Marianist university invites applications for multiple full-time, tenure-track, 9-month, faculty positions in the Department of Biological Sciences at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2025. We are seeking life scientists with teaching expertise at the university level to teach in one or more of the following areas: Anatomy and Physiology I & II lectures and labs for primarily nursing and exercise & sports science majors, advanced Human Anatomy for majors, General Biology for majors, Genetics, Cell Biology, Microbiology for the Health Professions, and Cell & Molecular Methods.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Biological Sciences or related life science discipline; Those with ABD designation and expecting completion within one year will also be considered.
  • Experience teaching undergraduates at the university level
  • Ability to engage students using best-practice pedagogy
  • Active research program in biological sciences that engages undergraduate students

Responsibilities:

  • Teach three sections (lectures and labs) per semester in biological sciences as assigned by the chair
  • Develop a research program in biological sciences engaging undergraduate students
  • Academic advising for students in the department
  • Engage in service at the department, school, University, and community levels
  • Contribute to the University's Marianist educational mission (https://marianistuniversities.org/)

Class sizes in the department are small with an average student-faculty ratio of 17:1. The department is active in research and opportunities for collaborations and professional development are abundant. Faculty are invested in positively impacting students' lives through strong mentorship, exemplary teaching and commitment to community and industry engagement.
