What are the responsibilities and job description for the 6-12 Special Education Teacher position at St. Mary, Storm Lake?
St. Mary’s Catholic School is a small, family-centered, faith-based school system located in a beautiful lakeside community (Storm Lake, IA). For the 2025-2026 school year, we are looking for a 6-12 Special Education teacher. This teacher’s role would include middle school and high school push-in and pull-out student support, co-teaching opportunities, reviewing data and assessment information as part of child studies and MTSS efforts system-wide, brainstorm funding needs with administration and outside parties, supporting families of students with special needs, helping build inclusive practices building-wide through practice, leadership, and trainings, etc. This role involves heavy collaboration and co-teaching willingness. Our school system emphasizes high-quality academics and structure as well as faith-based opportunities for student growth starting at an early age. We also pride ourselves in a family-like atmosphere for students, staff, and parents alike and efforts to keep growing in our abilities to support students with unique needs. St. Mary’s is a school on the Teacher Cancellation Low Income Directory.
Applicants must hold an active teaching license within the state of Iowa as well as special education endorsement (5-12 Instructional Strategist I: Mild/Moderate or K-12 Instructional Strategist I and II: ALL at minimum). Additional endorsements and experience welcomed. Applicants must also pass a background check and complete a diocesan Virtus Safe Environment training (entirely done online) prior to official hiring.
