Position Overview:
St. Mary’s Galaxy Food Center is seeking a talented and creative Cake Decorator to join our bakery team. The Cake Decorator will be responsible for designing and decorating custom cakes and baked goods, ensuring exceptional quality and presentation that aligns with our brand standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and a keen eye for design, with the ability to create beautiful, personalized cakes for various occasions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Decorate cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other baked goods according to customer specifications and company standards.
- Collaborate with customers to understand their cake design preferences for birthdays, weddings, holidays, and other special events.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure food safety and hygiene.
- Ensure all decorated cakes are delivered on time and in excellent condition.
- Use a variety of decorating techniques such as piping, fondant work, airbrushing, and sugar flowers.
- Stay up-to-date on current cake decorating trends and techniques to bring innovative ideas to the bakery.
- Maintain an inventory of cake decorating supplies and inform the Bakery Manager of any needed stock.
- Assist with baking cakes and other products when needed.
- Provide excellent customer service by handling cake orders, resolving any issues, and offering suggestions for designs.
- Follow all food safety and cleanliness standards in the preparation and decoration of cakes.
Requirements:
- Previous cake decorating experience, preferably in a bakery or retail setting.
- Strong attention to detail and artistic skills.
- Proficiency in various cake decorating techniques (e.g., buttercream, fondant, piping, airbrushing).
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple orders and deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and professionalism.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or training in cake decorating or pastry arts.
- Experience with wedding or specialty cake designs.
- Creative and passionate about the art of cake decoration.
