The Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining the parish and school buildings and grounds. The Facilities Manager performs and supervises tasks related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, environmental, safety, security, and custodial. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to details and project coordination and requires a team player attitude. The Facilities Manager works with the pastor, business manager, school principal, and parish/school staff.
Major Responsibilities
- Manages and performs all work related to the maintenance of parish/school buildings including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, custodial and security of the parish/school.
- Maintains equipment on parish/school grounds by closely monitoring equipment and completing necessary testing as required. Maintains accurate records of all maintenance repairs. Performs repairs as needed.
- Coordinates and works with the Head Maintenance of school for projects relating to the school, especially during the summer time.
- Oversees and provides custodial needs of the parish/school and grounds.
- Ensures compliance to all building codes and inspections.
- Works with Business Manager and Pastor to report problems, solutions, and associated costs. Provides updates on any projects.
- Supervises contractors and vendors as they relate to maintenance and grounds.
- Develops and maintains a relationship with all contractors and vendors ensuring efficient facility operations.
- Implements procedures for handling, storing, safeguarding, and destruction of hazardous materials.
- Creates and maintains parish/school wide inventory list and reviews list annually.
- Regularly inspects parish/school properties for areas of concern.
- Ensures compliance and implementation of policies as they relate to to parish/school facilities.
- Provides general carpentry on parish/school properties as needed.
- Oversees snow removal contractor as needed.
- Provides lawn maintenance and landscaping as needed.
- Attends staff meetings.
- Serves as primary contact for facility related emergencies, which may require evening and weekend work.
- Adheres to all Diocesan policies.
- Must work effectively with and collaborate with the Pastor, Business Manager, School Principal.
- Must have good interpersonal skills and be proficient in computer applications using Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google calendar.
- Is self motivated, organized, willing to serve and a team player.
- Ability to execute projects systematically.
- High School Diploma with a minimum of 2 years experience in facilities management field and supervising others.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of the Catholic Faith or a practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred.
