What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server Assistant/Busser/Food Runner position at St. Matthew's House?

ABOUT THIS ROLE:
An energetic Server Assistant is an important part of our growing team. The Server Assistant should exhibit a positive attitude, be passionate about the food industry, and look to grow with St. Matthew's House and Lulu's Kitchen. He or she will have an active working knowledge of the menu and become familiar with Starbucks recipes. This person is fluent and comfortable working with a POS system, is an active problem-solver, can multi-task fluidly, and maintains an attitude of JOY. Excellent AND efficient people skills are essential as you interact with customers and fellow team members. The Server Assistant plays an important role in our team providing excellent customer service, and efficient backup to our front of the house team. Our Server Assistant will maintain excellent cleanliness throughout our state-of-the-art facility, and act as a critical piece of our service puzzle in allowing us to continually invite more guests into our restaurant. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Understand the items on both the lunch and breakfast menu as well as specialty coffee and tea beverages in order to best serve our guests and backup the front of the house service team
- Speak and interact with both new and regular customers
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work environment
- Follow health and safety guidelines and complete the ServSafe curriculum
- Adhere to policies and procedures of Lulu's Kitchen and St. Matthew's House
- Be punctual and able to observe regular and consistent attendance
- Contribute to a positive team environment - always with an attitude of joy

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: 6 months experience in a professional work environment.
- Flow of work requires normal mental and visual capabilities.
- The employee is required to handle, feel and/or reach with hands and arms, squatting, bending, and constantly moving on a regular basis. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Working in different weather conditions outside is to be expected. Must be willing to work non-standard work schedule including nights, weekends, and other unusual hours due to business needs.
