Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Technicianis responsible for working under the direction of a pharmacist. This role is responsible for coordinating care, communication, and processes between various stakeholders such as pharmacies, patients, prescribers, payors and other third parties. Candidates should be efficient, organized, have impeccable attention to detail, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume specialty retail environment.
The Pharmacy Care Coordinator/ Technician reports to the Production Technician Supervisor
Overview:
We are hiring a customer-service-focused Care Coordinator / Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Specialty Pharmacy.
The compensation range for this position is $18-$21hr
The schedule for this position is Monday- Friday 830am-5pm, no weekends
Essential Functions:
- Communicates with patients, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and patient’s provider /- caregiver to conduct enrollment into patient care management program and follow-up continuation or discontinuation of care and screening assessments with prescription refills.
- Fill and package medications under the direction of the on-duty pharmacist.
- Ensure compliance with all licensure and federal, state, and local laws and regulations; observe the company’s policies on ‘’best practices’’.
- Communicate and coordinate prescription refills.
- Report any misconduct, suspicious or unethical activities to the Compliance Officer.
- Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with patients, providers and vendors.
- Route patient referrals to the appropriate department or individual(s) in the company.
- Communicate patient information necessary to schedule medical / pharmacy services.
- Determine correct resolution to patient complaints; take corrective action, and monitor results.
- Oversee record keeping so that all information is accurate and complete, and manage the flow of up-to-date information between customer service, patient care team and other parts of the company, such as the accounts receivable, accounts payable and billing.
- Participate in the company’s Performance Improvement program as requested by the Performance Improvement Coordinator.
- Participate in company committees when requested.
- Participate in in-service education programs provided by the company.
- Know regulatory requirements and accreditation standards applicable to the job duties and ensure compliance with these in conducting activites.
- Understand and be capable of completing prescription processing, billing and all standard pharmacy technician responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred and State Registered Pharmacy Technician, required ( can obtain after hire).
- Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.
- Experience in Customer Service / Pharmacy Technician.
- Ability to evaluate options and to make efficient decisions.
- Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.
- Computer skills that include proficiency with spreadsheets and use of the internet, as well as word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail.

Education and Experience:
- HS diploma or GED, required
- 2 years of customer service experience required
- 2 years of phone experience in a customer service environment preferred
- Active certification from the Kentucky Board of pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician (or able to obtain) preferred
- Pharmacy Technician License (if licensed) must be in good standing
- 2 years’ experience and/or training as a Registered Pharmacy Technician, preferred
- Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance, may be required
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel

- Ability to interact and communicate with people over the phone, sometimes in stressful situations

- Ability to verify data input and correct errors
- Reads and accurately interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Conveys empathy and understanding when handling customer service issues
- Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Computes rates, ratios, and percentages
- Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
