Summary Of Position
The school seeks an experienced Student Support Specialist who is involved in the community and dedicated to carrying out the mission of the school. The role requires a dedicated commitment to enhancing and integrating learning support services for students with disabilities This person will interpret documentation, establish accommodations, and provide information and consultation to faculty and staff regarding students with disabilities. This position is a 10-month staff, exempt position beginning in August 2025 that will report to the Director of College and Academic Counseling.

Job Details
Primary Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Case management of students with documented learning disabilities including, creation and updating of individualized student Learning Profiles, working on direct interventions and skill development with students, annual review of accommodations plan .
- Work jointly with Athletic Trainer and School Nurse in case management for students with documented medical or physical conditions that affect mobility, learning or temporarily require academic accommodations.
- Review and maintain confidentiality of evaluations, academic files, and standardized testing.
- Communicate with and provide guidance and professional development to teachers so they can best support students with neuro diversities.
- Prepare accommodations requests for College Board, ACT and Postsecondary options.
- Collaborate with the Testing Coordinator for school-based administration of ACT and College Board exams.
- Support assistive technology for students with learning differences when indicated.
- Serve as a member of the Admission Review Committee relative to potential students who have diagnosed disabilities.
- Oversee the Guided Study Hall classes to provide executive functioning and some content-specific support.
- Attend academic support meetings in support of student success, collaborate relative to interventions and short-term modifications with academic advisors and faculty.
- Refer to outside tutors and evaluators when deemed appropriate
- Provides short-term learning support for students needing study and organization strategies, time management, and test preparation
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop division-wide programming to help students know themselves as learners and to utilize strategies for academic success.
- All applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in special education, education, or a related field and at least three prior years of experience. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience with the College Board and ACT accommodations process.
- Knowledge of psychoeducational assessment and learning disabilities.
- Knowledge of adolescent development and educational accommodation planning.
