Job Title: Assistant Boys Volleyball Coach
Location: St. Michael the Archangel High School, Lee’s Summit, MO
Reports To: Head Boys Volleyball Coach & Athletic Director
Employment Type: Part-Time
Job Summary:
St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Boys Volleyball Coach to support the development of student-athletes in a Catholic high school environment. The ideal candidate will help foster a positive, competitive, and faith-based team culture, assisting the head coach in all aspects of the volleyball program, including player development, practice planning, and game-day coaching.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the head coach in organizing and running practices, games, and team activities.
- Provide instruction to improve players’ skills, techniques, and overall understanding of the game.
- Promote and model sportsmanship, teamwork, and a commitment to academic excellence.
- Support the physical, mental, and spiritual growth of student-athletes in alignment with Catholic values.
- Assist in game strategy, scouting opponents, and making real-time adjustments during competitions.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes at all times.
- Help coordinate travel, equipment, and logistics as needed.
- Uphold the school’s mission and policies, including adherence to athletic department and league regulations.
- Collaborate with the head coach, athletic director, and other staff to foster a successful program.
Qualifications:
- Prior coaching and/or playing experience in volleyball (high school, club, or collegiate level preferred).
- Understanding of volleyball fundamentals, game strategy, and player development.
- Commitment to the mission and values of a Catholic high school.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to mentor and positively influence student-athletes.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass required background checks and complete diocesan/school training requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience at the high school or club level.
- Knowledge of league rules and regulations.
- Experience working with student-athletes in a faith-based environment.
