Overview: Join our dynamic team at a vibrant summer camp in Chattanooga! We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to fill this role of Lifeguard and Swim Instructor. In this role, you will endure the safety of campers and facilitate engaging swim lessons to promote water safety and skill development.
Responsibilities:
1. Lifeguarding: Monitor swimming areas to ensure the safety of all campers and staff members. Remain vigilant at all times, enforcing pool rules and responding promptly to any emergencies or incidents. Conduct regular safety checks of equipment and facilities.
2. Swim Instructor: Develop and implement age-appropriate swim lessons plans for camper of varying skill levels. Provide personalized instruction and constructive feedback to help campers improve their swimming techniques and confidence in the water. Foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
3. Supervision: Supervise campers during swim sessions, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and appropriate behavior. communicate effectively with camp leadership and fellow staff members to coordinate schedules and activities.
4. Emergency Response: Possess current certifications in lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid. Be prepared to respond quickly and effectively to any water-related emergencies, administering first aid and initiating emergency procedures as necessary.
5. Team Collaborations: Work collaboratively with fellow lifeguards, swim instructors, and camp staff to create a cohesive and supportive team environment. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Current certification in lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid from nationally recognized organization (e.g., American Red Cross)
- Previous experience working as a lifeguard and/or Swim instructor, preferably in a camp or recreationally setting.
- Strong Swimming ability and knowledge of swim stroke techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the to interact effectively with campers of all ages.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Must be available to work flexible hours, at our pool open 8:30AM until 4:45 PM, throughout the summer season.
