What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker position at St. Nicks Alliance?
The Maintenance Worker under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor primarily performs repairs in units leased by St. Nicks Supportive Housing department. Some of the additional responsibilities of the maintenance worker include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
- Possess and maintain a clean New York State Driver’s License.
- Drive a 15 Passenger (extended) van to transport clients to special events, medical appointments, and/or necessary clinical transfers as deemed necessary by the Assistant Director of Residential Services (ADRS).
- Complete a defensive driving course.
- Move clients into and out of apartments.
- Possess the ability to work in the field (outdoors) year-round.
- Conduct inventory of supplies, complete detailed work orders and deliver client’s furniture as needed.
- Furnish, stock and child proof apartments in preparation for residents.
- Inspect apartments and assess for HQS compliance.
- Work extended hours when requested by the Asst. Director of Residential Services during audits or emergencies within the program, if necessary.
- Must complete specific HIV/AIDS, Substance Abuse, Mental Health, LGBT, Universal Precautions, Confidentiality and training annually.
- Must have the ability to lift in excess of 45 lbs. Must have the ability to lift furniture and large boxes.
- Report any hazardous conditions observed to the residential supervisor.
- Provide minor repairs and cleaning to apartments when not otherwise provided by building management under the direction of the Residential Supervisor such as, but not limited to fixtures, installation of medical apparatus, plastering, painting, lock repair and replacement, install and remove flooring, etc.
- Set-up and clean –up of special events sponsored by the Supportive Housing Program.
- Performs any other duties as requested by Deputy Director for Supportive Housing, Assistant Director of Residential Services, Executive Director or Deputy Executive Director for Social Services.
Qualifications:
- Possess the ability to do residential repairs, heavy duty cleaning experience and handyman skills necessary.
- Previous experience working in residential programs OR working with HIV/AIDS and Mental Health population is preferred.
- All Maintenance Workers must have and maintain a clean NYS driver’s license.
- Maintenance workers must be fluent in English (written and spoken) Bi-lingual Spanish ability is a plus.
