The Dance Department at St. Olaf College is seeking a highly qualified dance class assistant to support our Jazz Dance program. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about dance education and wants to gain valuable experience working with students of various skill levels.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the course instructor in teaching and guiding students through the Beginning Jazz or Intermediate Jazz movement intensive dance class
- Develop and lead practice sessions outside of the regular class period as needed
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress
- Communicate effectively with students, instructors, and other college staff
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in jazz dance instruction or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex dance concepts to students of varying skill levels
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
