Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): To manage and facilitate all aspects of the music department’s student, faculty, and guest recitals.
Transferable Skills: The ability to work unsupervised, good organizational skills, and the ability to trouble-shoot unexpected issues.
Duties and Responsibilities: Students work equally as House Manager and Stage Manager. The house manager opens the event doors for audience seating, watches door for latecomers, hands out programs, hands out and collects pink cards for student degree credit, and helps the stage manager as needed. The Stage Manager sets stage before recital, does stage transitiond during the events, runs lights, makes stage announcement, and assists performers as needed. Both house and stage manager close down the hall following the recital.
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) A knowledge of music recitals is helpful, ability to physically move and adjust heavy concert grand pianos, chairs and stands quickly if needed.
