Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
TRIO Student Support Services for Students with Disabilities (SSSD) is looking to hire Orientation Leaders (OL) to support the SSSD New Student Orientation. Orientation Leaders lead a small group of incoming students, facilitate discussions and activities, and communicate with incoming SSSD students in a small group and one-on-one setting to help acclimate new SSSD students to campus.

- Gain strong leadership, presentation, and mentorship experience
- Network with staff, faculty, fellow peer leaders, and first-year students
- Support and shadow the development of the TRIO Student Support Services for Students with Disabilities program Develop a breadth of leadership and advocacy skills activities, workshops, and tools
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Co-mentor a small group of SSSD first year students
- Track students’ attendance
- Serve as an active role model for SSSD students by attending all assigned workshops/seminars
- Facilitate small and large group activities
- Interact with students in a positive way in formal and informal academic settings
- Work collaboratively with other Orientation Leaders and campus partners
- Reliable and punctual to all duties (workshops, meetings, events, etc.)
- Must be able to demonstrate effective communication skills for working with partners on and off campus Summer training required in addition to other training as determined by supervisor
Qualifications (Education/Experience/Skills):
- Be a rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in SSSD* or SSS or student registered with DAC
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow FERPA regulations
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability and interest in working with, communicate efficiently, and positively with students with a disability from diverse backgrounds in formal and informal settings Van certification is strongly preferred
