Description of the Position:
Summer Event Fellows are current students responsible for the many activities related to efficiently operating the College’s robust summer camps and conferences programming. This includes, but is not limited to, preparing residence halls, rooms, and campus spaces for guests, event registration & check-in, camper safety and support, transportation services, anticipating and executing event needs, troubleshooting facility support, educating guests about St. Olaf and leading them through signature St. Olaf experiences, one-on-one connections with camp and conference directors, and additional projects and office duties as assigned. This is a full-time position with a daily schedule that could vary. This position is not compatible with holding a second position or with attending summer school classes. Work will begin on Wednesday, May 21, and conclude Saturday, August 16. Students will work an average of 6 hours a day, sometimes less, sometimes more. Staff receive 1½ - 2 days off each week, and vacations must be pre-approved during the summer. Weekly hours will average about 32-40 hours per week. There will be evening and weekend hours. You must live on campus in the housing provided for the duration of your employment.

- Serve as a resource to summer guests by providing them with information about the College and surrounding community;
- Prepare guests' rooms in residence halls, including providing clean linens;
- Prepare meeting spaces and support in-room technology;
- Engage with campus guests to encourage prospective visits;
- Act as liaison between camp/conference directors and College Events staff;
- General office duties, data entry, preparing registration materials, scheduling, key/meal card inventory, etc.;
- Maintain general office and storage organization/inventory;
- On-call some evenings and weekends, or available for special events and visitors;
- Miscellaneous projects as assigned.
- Driving: Those who meet the St Olaf fleet vehicle driving requirements will be asked to drive campus vehicles.
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
Must be a current St. Olaf student in good academic and disciplinary standing. Previous experience in hospitality, event management, and/or tech is desired, but not required. Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand for long periods of time. Preference may be given to candidates with a valid drivers’ license, though it is not required.
