Job Title : Fair Opportunity Project Marketing Assistant

Classification : Student Employee (non-exempt)

Pay Rate : Specialized CBWS Hourly Rate ($16.50 / hour). This pay rate aligns with the pay scale for Fair Opportunity Project and is subject to an annual wage increase.

IMPORTANT : STUDENTS MUST HAVE A STATE OR FEDERAL WORK AWARD TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR COMMUNITY BASED WORK STUDY (CBWS) POSITIONS. Student CBWS work eligibility is subject to change due to work award re-determinations over the summer. This means even students who were a chosen applicant for the position may be ineligible to work if they do not have a state / federal work award come Fall 2025. Fair Opportunity Project empowers students to access and afford college through its digital portal of curated, comprehensive resources and services on all aspects of the college application process. Our student-facing materials are created by a diverse pool of current college students and college advising professionals who compile college admissions and financial aid resources of the highest quality. Our approach uses technology and radical accessibility to reach and support college-interested students anywhere on the planet. Fair Opportunity Project's resources have been accessed by over 100,000 users across 204 countries, which has resulted in a Forbes 30 under 30 award and features in the New York Times, CNBC, Thrillist, the Harvard Ed Magazine, Study Breaks Magazine, and the Harvard Gazette.

Position Description :

As a Marketing Assistant, you will support Fair Opportunity Project's mission by expanding awareness of our resources, increasing engagement across digital platforms, and helping to develop strategic marketing initiatives. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing while working alongside a team passionate about educational equity.

  • Communication and outreach (partnerships, newsletters, campaigns)
  • Data Analysis and campaign evaluation (engagement metrics)

  • Adaptability and quick learning (implementing best practices, remote work)

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Assist in managing and growing Fair Opportunity Project's social media presence (TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Develop and schedule engaging content, including graphics, short-form videos, and written posts
  • Support outreach efforts to expand partnerships with high schools, colleges, and community organizations
  • Contribute to email marketing campaigns, newsletters, and website content updates
  • Help track and analyze engagement metrics to assess campaign effectiveness
  • Research and implement best practices in nonprofit and educational marketing
  • Assist with special marketing projects, such as student focus groups
  • Qualifications : (Education / Experience / Skills)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience or interest in social media, marketing, or digital outreach
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to learn quickly and take initiative
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, Canva, or basic content creation tools
  • Passion for educational access, equity, and Fair Opportunity Project's mission
