Description of the Position : (Purpose of the Position) :
The Fellows' purpose is to support students in the Great Con program through tutoring and mentorship, collecting assessment data, and analyzing larger questions about the curriculum, mission, purpose and functioning of the program.
Transferable Skills :
1. Research and analysis of complex qualitative data
2. Creating surveys to gather quantitative and qualitative data and analyzing results
3. Producing clear, informative reports based on research
4. Instructing peers through both one-on-one and group meetings
Duties and Responsibilities :
1. maintain the Great Con Lending Library and Reading Room located in Old Main
2. lead workshops for first-year conners in the residence halls on reading strategically and writing efficiently
3. tutor individual students
4. complete and maintain the Great Con Digital Archive located on Elevator
5. research other Core Texts programs and other areas identified by the Director
5. survey Con students and alumni about the program
Qualifications : (Education / Experience / Skills)
1. Successful completion of the Great Conversation program
2. Strong mentorship skills, including thoughtful listening, empathy, and clear verbal communication
3. Strong writing skills
4. Ability to reflect on one's own experience productively
5. Quantitative and qualitative research and analysis skills
