As part of the Nutrition Services team, the Server plays a key role in ensuring that students receive nutritious and appealing meals in a clean, friendly, and efficient environment. Under the supervision of the Nutrition Services Coordinator, the Server is responsible for setting up and serving meals, food prep, maintaining sanitation standards, and providing excellent customer service to all students and staff. This is a part-time position during the school year.
Key Responsibilities
· Serve meals to students and staff in accordance with USDA meal pattern guidelines and portion control standards.
· Set up serving lines, salad bars, condiments, and other food service stations as directed.
· Monitor food temperatures and maintain safe food handling practices at all times.
· Maintain a clean and sanitary dining and serving area, including counters, tables, and equipment.
· Restock serving lines and supplies as needed during service periods.
· Assist with basic food preparation tasks.
· Assist with cleanup, including dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, and trash disposal.
· Follow all safety and sanitation procedures as outlined by local health departments and USDA regulations.
· Exhibit a positive attitude and provide respectful, helpful service to all students and staff.
· Participate in training and staff meetings as required.
· Follow Standard Operating Procedure manual.
· Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
· Ensure that customer service standards are met and that customers have a positive dining experience
· Other duties as assigned or needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous food service experience desirable but not required – on-the-job training provided.
Skills:
· Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
· Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Dependability and punctuality are essential.
· Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs as required.
