We are looking for a Marriage Ministry Coordinator who is a joyful missionary disciple that loves to serve the Church and can handle and manage administrative responsibilities in furthering our mission at St. Patrick. The Marriage Ministry Coordinator will work closely with the pastor, parochial vicars, deacons, and other staff members and volunteers in fostering one of our core
values of building a culture that exhibits joyful faith. Furthermore, the Marriage Ministry Coordinator will walk with couples through the marriage preparation pathway, as well as, walking with those who are seeking an annulment in the Church by serving as a case counselor at St. Patrick. This is a part time position requiring 10-15 hours per week.

The Marriage Ministry Coordinator’s primary role is to ensure that those who come to St. Patrick feel welcomed, feel loved, and that they receive Jesus Christ because everyone is part of the family. Moreover, part of the role of the Marriage Ministry Coordinator is to help others be spiritually fed and become inflamed with Love for the Lord through the prayer of the Church, so that they may then go out and “make disciples of all nations” (cf. Matthew 28:19).
Ministerial Character
The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish of St. Patrick Catholic Church which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Positions employed at St. Patrick Catholic Church help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.
Responsibilities of the position:
- As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. Patrick Catholic Church in both your professional and personal life.
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed. Reports Directly to the Pastor.
- Works with Liturgy Coordinator and other Marriage Preparation Team Members.
- Serve as the Marriages and Annulments Administrator.
- Directly responsible for management and recording of Marriage Sacraments received in the Parish.
- Conducts Faith Sharing Interviews with couples.
- Can assist in teaching classes, be trained as a delegate for Prepare and Enrich, and/or other preparation surveys.
- Management and organization of all necessary documents for Sacramental preparation specifically marriage packets.
- Compiles wedding certificates and assists in providing wedding anniversary certificates.
- Follow up with individuals to ensure all necessary documents and paperwork have been submitted and filed in a timely manner.
- Notifications of all Sacramental records
- Prays for couples who are preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage.
- Continues to grow in formation with trainings, classes, and materials given by the Diocese of Austin or other Catholic resources.
- Can be present to conduct wedding rehearsals when necessary.
- Work with Liturgy Team in preparing for the wedding day.
- Serve as a witness of Jesus by accompanying and giving support to families.
- Attends and participates in department and Church Staff Meetings.
- Performs additional projects, duties and tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred, to professionally communicate and represent the parish.
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, a self-starter and list maker.
- Proficiency in Microsoft software programs (Excel, Word, Publisher, Access) and basic internet knowledge.
- Ability to handle multiple projects.
- Understand the partnership of family and the parish community.
- Familiarity with Principles of Catholic catechesis for couples considering the sacrament of marriage.
- Active in the Roman Catholic faith and commitment to function in the manner consistent with the mission of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Leads a full sacramental life.
- Include awareness of ethnic and cultural sensitivity.
- Works well in collaborating efforts and has teamwork mentality.
- Promote and implement diocesan policies and guidelines regarding the sacrament of marriage and annulments.
