Field Nurse Job Description
Duties:
- Provide direct patient care in various settings, including homes, schools, and community centers
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the physician
- Document patient care and progress in electronic medical records (eClinicalWorks, Cerner)
- Provide education to patients and families on disease management and prevention
- Perform infant care, including feeding, diapering, and monitoring growth and development
- Assist with coding of medical procedures for accurate billing
- Assist with ophthalmology procedures as needed
- Lift patients as needed for transfers or mobility
- Provide behavioral health support to patients and families
- Perform gastric lavage as needed in emergency situations
- Conduct occupational health assessments for employees in various industries
- Collect laboratory specimens for testing
Qualifications:
- Active nursing license in the state of practice
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a clinical setting
- Experience with electronic medical records (eClinicalWorks, Cerner)
- Knowledge of infant care best practices
- Familiarity with medical coding procedures
- Experience with ophthalmology procedures preferred but not required
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for patient transfers or mobility assistance
- Knowledge of behavioral health support techniques preferred but not required
- Ability to perform gastric lavage in emergency situations
- Experience conducting occupational health assessments preferred but not required
- Ability to collect laboratory specimens for testing
