St. Paul’s Lutheran School has an elementary teacher opening for an outgoing, caring individual to lead in a primary grade classroom (1st or 2nd) in our supportive PK-6th grade environment in Waverly, Iowa for the 2025-26 School Year. We are seeking a teacher(s) that values the importance of faith and understands the importance of engaging students in a collaborative classroom community. Knowledge about the Iowa Core, MTSS system, technology integration, Everyday Math, Collaborative Classroom and Mystery Science helpful, but not required. Candidates must be supportive of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School's mission and values. St. Paul’s is fully accredited with the Iowa Department of Education.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to join our team. As an Elementary School Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of young students and fostering their love for learning. You will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging classroom environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Duties:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum and educational standards
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and growth
- Use a variety of teaching methods and learning technologies to accommodate different learning styles
- Assess student progress through regular evaluations, tests, and assignments
- Provide individualized instruction to students who require additional support or have special needs
- Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and administrators to create a comprehensive educational program
- Foster a positive classroom culture that encourages respect, cooperation, and active participation
- Utilize effective classroom management strategies to maintain a productive learning environment
- Communicate regularly with parents to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (required)
- Teaching certification or license (required)
- Experience working with elementary school students (preferred)
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices
- Familiarity with learning technologies and their integration into the classroom
- Experience working with students with special needs or autism spectrum disorder
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to provide tutoring or additional support to students as needed
- Knowledge of education administration and policies
