Position Description
Under the guidance of the Lower School Head and Pre-K Lead teachers, this afternoon assistant teacher would serve in our PreK classrooms supporting in all developmentally appropriate activities, playground supervision and other administrative tasks needed in the classroom. In this role, the candidate will model discipline and communication skills and assist in planning and prepping activities for your classroom. This position will be expected to work 11:30am – 5:30pm, Monday through Friday and it is a year round role.
In addition to the above, you can expect to be supportive of the following, depending on the time of day that you are here:
- Serving and cleaning up lunch and snack, including ensuring supplies are fully stocked within the classroom, as well as covering lunch duty and recess duty for PreK students.
- During rest time, preparing spaces and helping to get students to relax and engage in quiet time activities
- Helping ensure room is cleaned up at the end of the year (all centers checked, tables cleaned, chairs stacked etc.) and all spaces have been disinfected/cleaned.
- Accompanying students to their specials throughout the day including rebounders, art, music and others.
- Communicating in a positive way with parents when needed, giving updates on their children, helping with the Tadpoles photo and communication system and being attentive to parents' needs
- Partnering with lead teachers on various classroom activities including getting books from the library for reading, preparing for and cleaning up after arts projects and assisting in room decorations.
- Being sure children are washing their hands regularly and practicing good bathroom procedures.
- Maintaining strict levels of confidentiality at all times
- Attending all required staff events, including CPR/first aid training, faculty meetings, professional development days, etc.
- Establishing a professional, respectful and friendly rapport with students, families and colleagues
- Other duties as assigned.
Our preferred candidate will have their 90 hour certificate or be willing to complete the courses to get it completed within a reasonable timeframe. In addition, all employees will be required to complete a minimum of 12 hours of continued training to maintain license requirements on an annual basis.

The St. Paul’s Schools has a compensation scale based on direct years of experience and degree held. For this opportunity, this is an hourly position and our range is $16.00 to $19.00 per hour. Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a salary outside of the range shown.
