JOB SUMMARY:
The Chaplain’s primary responsibility is to provide spiritual support tailored to meet unique spiritual and emotional needs with respect for the spiritual beliefs of residents and families while implementing and supporting the mission of St. Paul’s, including the Core Values of Compassion, Respect, Person-centered and Security.
The Chaplain also provides spiritual support for colleagues, promoting spiritual well-being, which may include referring them to EAP, HR and/or community clergy or spiritual leaders. The Chaplain will assist the Director of Spiritual Services and serve as a liaison connecting residents to community clergy/spiritual leaders and congregations.
In this position, you will assist the Director of Spiritual Services in providing residents of St. Paul’s with opportunities for spiritual growth and maturity through developing, implementing and evaluating programs and services, including providing leadership in religious services, bible studies and devotionals in care area settings.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans, conducts and assists with special and regular worship services, including surrounding major religious observances, including memorial services, celebrations of life and remembrance gatherings as requested.
2. Responds to provide pastoral care and visitation to residents on campus and when requested off campus and at local hospitals.
3. Respond to offer support and maintain contact with the families and/or loved ones of residents through the end-of-life and bereavement process as appropriate and communicate follow-up needs to the Director of Spiritual Services and other appropriate team members.
4. Shares in on-call coverage on a rotating basis and responds to meet pastoral needs upon crises, deaths and/or other types of spiritual distress. Communicate follow-up needs to the Director of Spiritual Services and other appropriate team members.
5. Visits residents upon admission.
6. Must be available to plan services and preach two Sundays a month.
7. Must share responsibility in Holy Communion.
8. Other duties as assigned.
