St Peter’s Episcopal Church, located in the Marina District of Perth Amboy is looking for an individual who is fluent bilingual (English/Spanish) to serve as our Church Office Administrative Assistant (COAA). The person chosen as our COAA will work a total of 14 hours per week, Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 12:30 PM, and will handle day-to-day Church Office operations.
The COAA will work collaboratively with other Church Staff, Vestry, parish members, and prospective members, and vendors, while maintaining utmost confidentiality and regard for St Peter’s Episcopal Church to all in a manner that is trustworthy in the vision and mission of the Church.
Position Overview
The Church Office Administrative Assistant must have excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish for our bilingual, multi-cultural, historical parish. The COAA reports directly to the Rector / Senior Pastor.
Some of the COAA's daily office operations include serving as a receptionist, secretary, and office administrator. Overall superior speaking etiquette is necessary to interchange naturally from English or Spanish when communicating in person or over the telephone with individuals in their respective language. Additional routine work includes producing and publishing service bulletins, newsletters, and other correspondence; maintaining files of parish members and vendors among other church records; updating our webpage and social media platforms; and assisting the Rector, Church Staff, Vestry, parish members, and visitors as needed.
Salary Compensation
v The starting rate of pay is $18.50 per hour for this part-time, non-exempt position. After a 3-month evaluation, there may be an opportunity for the first hourly wage increase. Semi-annual evaluations follow thereafter with increases when possible.
v Two weeks (28-hours) paid vacation per calendar year is available after 6 months of employment. Additional paid time-off is provided when the Church Office is closed for specified holidays.
v Group health insurance is available at the employee's own expense.
