OVERVIEW
The Cafeteria Food Service Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the school’s nutrition program, ensuring compliance with Indiana Department of Education (IDOE), and USDA Child Nutrition Program regulations. This individual will manage the school cafeteria food service team, oversee food preparation, menu planning, purchasing, and record-keeping while ensuring fiscally sound, high-quality, nutritious meals for students. Champion a welcoming and Christ-centered environment in the cafeteria. Serves on the Ministry Operations Team, reporting to the Operations Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Foster a hospitable, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment in the cafeteria.
- Plan and prepare nutritious, well-balanced monthly breakfast and lunch menus that meet federal and state nutritional guidelines.
- Supervise, train, and walk alongside the Cafeteria Food Service team, ensuring proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Oversee purchasing and inventory management to ensure cost-effective and quality food procurement.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and facilities, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to local health department standards.
- Ensure compliance with the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) Child Nutrition Program, National School Lunch Program (NSLP), and School Breakfast Program (SBP) requirements, including meal pattern regulations, reporting, and reimbursement documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, meal counts, and financial reports to comply with federal and state reimbursement guidelines and adhere to our Financial Control Procedures Manual (FCPM).
COMPETENCIES
- ServSafe Manager Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Knowledge of IDOE Child Nutrition Program requirements and meal reimbursement procedures (PREFERRED)
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage a team and daily food service operations.
- Knowledge of nutritional guidelines, food allergies, and meal accommodations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with students, employees, and parents.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Education: High School diploma minimum. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in school food service management or a related field, preferably in a state-reimbursed meal program.
- Managing direct reports, a minimum of three years
- Highly proficient in MS Office/Google software applications; preferred experience with Paypal & Sycamore School software
