Position Summary
St. Peter’s School is seeking a faith-filled and knowledgeable High School Theology Teacher to join our faculty. The Theology Teacher will be responsible for teaching theology courses to students in grades 9–12, helping them grow in their understanding of Catholic doctrine, scripture, morality, and spiritual life. The ideal candidate will be a practicing Catholic with a passion for guiding students in faith formation and moral development.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach high school theology courses as assigned by the principal.
- Develop and deliver curriculum aligned with the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Diocese of Toledo standards, and the Ohio Department of Education.
- Encourage spiritual growth and active participation in the faith life of the school.
- Foster respectful dialogue and a welcoming classroom environment rooted in Catholic teachings.
- Collaborate with campus ministry and participate in liturgies, retreats, and other faith-based events.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administrators.
- Fulfill other school-related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Education, Religious Studies, or a related field (required).
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church (required).
- Valid Ohio teaching license or willingness to obtain appropriate certification.
- Experience teaching theology or working in ministry with high school students is preferred.
- Ability to pass FBI and BCI background checks.
- Completion of the Diocese of Toledo’s VIRTUS program (or willingness to complete upon hire).
- Commitment to Catholic education, student development, and the mission of St. Peter’s School.
Salary and Benefits
This position is a full-time, salaried position with a 12-month contract including options for annual renewals. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits are offered to all full-time employees including tuition discounts for school-age dependents.
