What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Grade Teacher position at St. Peter School?
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Instruction & Planning
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the Diocese of Toledo Course of Study.
- Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and learning.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing feedback and support to meet individual needs.
- Accurate record keeping using the Digital Academy platform.
- Incorporate technology, hands-on activities, and interactive methods to enhance learning experiences.
Spiritual & Faith Development
- Integrate Catholic teachings into daily lessons and activities.
- Foster the spiritual growth of students by leading daily prayers, facilitating class Mass attendance, and discussing religious topics.
- Prepare students for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, collaborating with the school's clergy.
- Organize First Communion retreats.
Student Supervision & Recess Duty
- Supervise students during scheduled recess periods to ensure safety, positive interactions, and adherence to school rules.
- Encourage respectful play and conflict resolution among students.
- Monitor and address any behavior or safety concerns in a timely manner.
Parent & Community Engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress, upcoming events, and spiritual milestones.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences, school events, and other community activities as a representative of the school.
Professional Development & Collaboration
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff, and administration to ensure a cohesive educational experience for all students.
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and faith-based training opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (preferred).
- Certification: Primary PK-5 Teaching License (preferred).
- Experience: Previous experience teaching in a Catholic school setting (preferred).
- Faith Commitment: Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church, with a strong understanding of the Catholic faith and its teachings (preferred).
- Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
- Passion for teaching and nurturing the academic and spiritual development of young students.
Additional Information:
- This position requires participation in school-wide liturgical events, religious activities, and adherence to the mission and values of the Catholic Church.
- Availability for evening and weekend events related to First Communion preparation may be required.
