2nd Grade Teacher

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Instruction & Planning

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the Diocese of Toledo Course of Study.
• Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and learning.
• Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing feedback and support to meet individual needs.
• Accurate record keeping using the Digital Academy platform.
• Incorporate technology, hands-on activities, and interactive methods to enhance learning experiences.

Spiritual & Faith Development

• Integrate Catholic teachings into daily lessons and activities.
• Foster the spiritual growth of students by leading daily prayers, facilitating class Mass attendance, and discussing religious topics.
• Prepare students for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, collaborating with the school's clergy.
• Organize First Communion retreats.

Student Supervision & Recess Duty

• Supervise students during scheduled recess periods to ensure safety, positive interactions, and adherence to school rules.
• Encourage respectful play and conflict resolution among students.
• Monitor and address any behavior or safety concerns in a timely manner.

Parent & Community Engagement

• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress, upcoming events, and spiritual milestones.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences, school events, and other community activities as a representative of the school.

Professional Development & Collaboration

• Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff, and administration to ensure a cohesive educational experience for all students.
• Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and faith-based training opportunities.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (preferred).
• Certification: Primary PK-5 Teaching License (preferred).
• Experience: Previous experience teaching in a Catholic school setting (preferred).
• Faith Commitment: Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church, with a strong understanding of the Catholic faith and its teachings (preferred).
• Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
• Passion for teaching and nurturing the academic and spiritual development of young students.

Additional Information:

• This position requires participation in school-wide liturgical events, religious activities, and adherence to the mission and values of the Catholic Church.
• Availability for evening and weekend events related to First Communion preparation may be required.
