The primary purpose of the Nursing Supervisor is to provide nursing services in a skilled nursing unit or facility; may include supervision of nurse assistants, medication passes and treatments. We are expanding our WEEKENDS 7AM-7PM coverage team.

Under new administration and nursing leadership, we are seeking an experienced and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to oversee nursing operations for our WEEKEND SHIFT (7AM-7PM), ensuring compliance with regulations, facility policies, and delivering exceptional patient care. This role combines administrative, clinical, and supervisory duties, contributing to the overall success of the facility's nursing services.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Functions:

  • Direct and supervise nursing assistants and nursing staff, ensuring adherence to facility policies, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Review and update department policies and procedures, making recommendations for revisions as needed.
  • Maintain documentation, reports, and census records, ensuring timely and accurate submission to relevant departments.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs, inspections, and surveys conducted by government agencies.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of resident discharge plans and coordinate services across departments.

Clinical & Documentation Duties:

  • Administer medications, treatments, and nursing care according to physician orders and resident care plans.
  • Ensure accurate charting of care provided, including progress notes, incident reports, and medication administration.
  • Conduct assessments, monitor changes in residents' conditions, and update care plans as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control procedures, handling hazardous materials, and reporting incidents according to facility protocol.

Supervisory & Personnel Functions:

  • Manage staffing needs, assist with performance evaluations, and provide leadership to nursing personnel.
  • Ensure all nursing assistants are trained and compliant with certification requirements.
  • Foster a positive work environment, providing mentorship and support to nursing staff.
  • Monitor adherence to safety protocols and dress codes, ensuring compliance with facility standards.

Patient Care & Interaction:

  • Provide compassionate care, ensuring residents' physical, emotional, and mental needs are met.
  • Monitor care plans and ensure proper implementation of restorative and rehabilitative programs.
  • Assist residents and family members with orientation and admission procedures.
  • Manage admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring smooth transitions for residents.

Safety & Sanitation:

  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation guidelines, maintaining a clean and safe work environment for both staff and residents.
  • Ensure staff is equipped with proper protective equipment and follows appropriate safety practices.

Training & Staff Development:

  • Participate in the development and delivery of in-service training, maintaining staff knowledge of regulations and facility procedures.
  • Encourage continuous learning and professional development, attending training sessions as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: Nursing degree from an accredited program. Current, unencumbered LPN/LVN license in [state]. Previous experience in long-term care or similar healthcare environment preferred.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to assess and prioritize patient needs and ensure quality care. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and nursing protocols.
  • Certifications: Current CPR certification. Experience with PCC (Preferred).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to move residents and equipment as necessary.
  • An ability to interact effectively with residents, staff, and family members, sometimes in emotionally challenging situations.

Work Environment:

  • Work in a clinical setting, including patient rooms, nurses' stations, and treatment areas.
  • Exposure to infectious conditions, chemicals, and other hazards common to healthcare environments.
  • Must be available for emergencies and participate in on-call duties as required.
