Responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON):
- Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department.
- Develop, plan, conduct and schedule in-service training classes that provide and ensure a well-educated nursing service department.
- Provide leadership training that includes the administrative and supervisory principles essential for Nurse Supervisors, RNs, and LPNs.
- Assist the Director in developing and revising the nursing assistant training curriculum and conducting universal precautions in-service training.
- Extensive knowledge regarding Infection Control practices.
- Review and advise of policies and procedures regarding infection prevention.
- Conduct and offer in-services to all staff regarding Infection Control practices.
Requirements of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON):
- Must possess, a valid unencumbered RN state license and a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- A minimum, two (2) years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility.
