What are the responsibilities and job description for the Boat Yard Assistant (Cleaning, Maintenance, Repairs) position at St. Petersburg Yacht Club?
We are currently looking for a Boat Yard Assistant who will work at our Sailing Center under the direction of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient operation. The Boat Yard Assistant will be primarily responsible for the upkeep of the fleets (90 boats - Sail & Power) and facility. Although no two days are ever the same, the position will typically handle cleaning and rearranging boats, repairing damages (fiberglass experience a plus), and general maintenance.
This is a part time position that has the opportunity to transition to full-time for the right candidate. Working weekends is required.

Responsibilities
- Monitors sailing programs and ensures safe program operation
- Helps with ongoing facility maintenance as directed by Supervisor
- Helps other departments as necessary
- Follows daily procedures as directed by Supervisor
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment
- Maintains & Repairs club-owned waterfront apparatus, including fleets of sailboats and powerboats
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Boat handling skills and knowledge of nautical terminology
- Line handling skills, including the ability to tie bowline, half hitch knots, toss, and cleat lines
- Unlimited or unimpaired ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb, and work safely around water, on a ladder, or in confined spaces
- Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge of fiberglass repair a plus
- Sailing experience a plus
