Job Description
We are currently looking for a talented Restaurant Server to join our team. The server will provide fast, friendly, and courteous service to every member while maintaining knowledge of all related products served. He/she will be responsible for pre-bussing, cleaning, and resetting tables and for maintaining the cleanliness of all restaurants and lounges. All duties will be performed within the guidelines of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives. The ideal candidate has a pleasant and courteous personality, knowledge of food and beverage service, and experience in a high volume setting.
The benefits listed below are dependent on number of hours worked.
Salary
- During training: $15.00 p/hr. (estimated 35hrs of training over a 2-week period) *length will depend on schedule restrictions and level of experience. There will be NO gratuity during the training period.
- Training complete: $10.75 plus automatic gratuity added to the check.
Responsibilities
- Interacts with guests to take drink and food orders
- Ensures prompt delivery of food to guest tables
- Maintains a working knowledge of the liquor, beer, wine, and food served at the Club and suggests pairings of food to wine or beer
- Handles all checks according to Club procedures in timely manner
- Ensures cleanliness of lounge, ensuring polished flatware, clean glassware, and plates
- Pre-busses whenever possible
- Suggests appetizer (soup or salad) and coffee and dessert
- Helps out in other areas of the lounge, which includes seating guests
- Follows all company policies, procedures, and standards regarding job duties, attendance, personal appearance and demeanor, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must have high volume experience and good food and service knowledge
- Must have an outgoing, friendly personality and a cheerful, accommodating disposition
- Must remain calm and professional in a busy environment
- Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak English fluently and to read and write in basic English
- Must be able to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
- Must be able to speak and hear, use close and distance vision, and identify and distinguish colors
- Must be physically able to perform the duties of the job, which includes standing, walking, and moving through all areas of the club for extended periods; frequently lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds; reaching with hands and arms in any direction; and kneeling and stooping repeatedly
- Must be able to work an indoor or outdoor setting depending on event
