Grade 2 Elementary Teacher (Full-time, Exempt)Start: August 2025 Saint Philomena School of the Sacred Heart, a Catholic, independent, Sacred Heart Preschool through Grade 8 school in Portsmouth, RI, is hiring a mission-matched, passionate and knowledgeable educator who loves all Gods children, supports families and works collaboratively with colleagues to foster courage & confidence in students while inspiring intellectual and spiritual growth. Joining a dynamic team of Sacred Heart Educators from in and outside the classroom, the 2nd grade teacher is part of an exceptional faith-filled community where every person helps drive strong culture and deep commitment to mission.Key Responsibilities: Commitment to Mission: Contribute time, energy and effort to grow as a Sacred Heart educator, support the greater good of the community, advance the mission of the school and contribute to activities, experiences and events that enrich the school beyond the classroom.Instructional Planning: Develop and deliver age-appropriate lessons based on the 2nd-grade curriculum that can target diverse learner needs within subjects such as reading, writing, math and social studies. Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive, welcoming and well-organized classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and a love for learning.Student Assessment: Regularly assess student progress through various methods (tests, projects, assignments, etc.) and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.Differentiated Instruction: Use differentiated teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of all students and be able to structure a classroom community for whole and small groups, guided learning centers and creative classroom initiatives that engage students below, at and above grade level.Collaboration: Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, staff members, and parents to support students academic and personal development while also contributing professional gifts and skills to advance the collective impact of the professional team.Classroom Materials: Organize and maintain instructional materials, resources, and supplies to ensure that students have everything they need to succeed.Communication: Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and enhance teaching skills.Supportive Environment: Foster a safe and emotionally supportive learning environment where students can thrive both academically and socially.Interested applicants should email a cover letter, resume and two references to: Dawn Pagano, Vice Principal / Assistant Head of Schooldpagano@saintphilomena.orgwww.saintphilomena.org
