What are the responsibilities and job description for the After School Care Coordinator position at St. Pius X High School?
St. Pius X School recently expanded, adding a middle school component to the established high school that has been successful for the past 68 years.
We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and inspired individual to join our Middle School Team as an After School Care Coordinator. As an independent catholic school, we strive to inspire and foster a culture that supports moral, social, and intellection growth while teaching young people to be ethical leaders in service of others.
The right person for this position will be someone with strong organizational and communication skills, has the desire to support middle school age students, and will be comfortable working in a role that will continue to evolve as our program is established.
The After School Care Coordinator will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- The safety and well-being of students and participants in the program.
- Implementing engaging activities for the students and maintaining a positive environment.
- Communicating with staff, parents, and others about program activities.
- Maintaining attendance records and accident registers.
- Training after school care staff and providing refresher trainings as needed.
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary program environment.
- Providing high quality risk management to ensure the safety of participants and visitors.
- Following protocols for first aid and emergency situations.
- The ability to adapt and be flexible to changing program conditions.
- Managing participant behavior, activities, environment, and ability to redirect where needed.

- Ability to assess situations, established an educated response, and initiate continuous improvement.
- Detail oriented and planning skills.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required
- Must be over the age of 18
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications
- 2 years of child care experience preferred.
Hours and Environment Requirement:
- This is a part time position that will require the coordinator to be available from 1:50pm to 5:30pm Monday through Friday.
- Ability to work in an area with consistent noise, talking, and activities.
- Ability to stand consistently.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
