What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Guard position at St. Pius X High School?
Overview: A campus security guard is responsible for helping to provide a safe and secure environment for students and employees. At St. Pius X we strive to inspire and foster a culture that supports moral, social, and intellection growth while teaching young people to be ethical leaders in service of others.
Minimum Skills/Qualifications:
- Exceptional people skills and good communication skills
- Ability to organize time, projects and details
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
- Ability to complete security training program with 3-D security to become a New Mexico licensed security guard. There will be a probationary period of 90 days to determine job fit. In addition, if you leave your role within 1 year of being hired, you will be required to reimburse St. Pius for your security training cours due to the license being mobile and belonging to you.
What You Will Do:
- Secure the premises by patrolling school property
- Participate in security searches of school facilities
- Monitor surveillance equipment for illegal activities around school property
- Monitor access points
- Permitting entry and exit to campus
- Monitor and direct school traffic
- Monitor and assist in emergency drills with the students and staff
- Monitor and assist in emergency situations (fire, ambulance, etc.)
- Lock down buildings, set security alarm systems to active or inactive mode
- Special events: security for sports events (football games, basketball games, Grandparents day), security for dances (Laua, Homecoming, WinterBall, and class dances)
- Cover Pius scheduled weekend events (This can include reunions, plays, athletic events and any other possible Pius sponsored events.)
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
The employee is required to be mobile to, from and within an office, as well as maneuver throughout the school facility to attend meetings, briefings and other work-related events. - Able to stand for long periods in a day
- Able to walk/patrol for long periods in a day
- Able to walk up and down stairs several times a day
- Able to lift at least 40 pounds
- Must be able to work long hours
- Must be able to drive a golf cart in a safe manner
- Must be able to deal with variable weather conditions (cold, heat, wind, wet weather, etc.)
- Must be able to complete Level I and II state security certification program
