FULL-TIME SUBSTITUTE (FINISH THE YEAR) CLASSROOM TEACHER
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
St. Rita Catholic School is a Catholic, co-educational day school for pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students. St. Rita Catholic School empowers students to reach their potential as learners and servant leaders through faith, hope, love, and the joyful pursuit of knowledge.
LOCATION: Dallas, Texas
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the St. Rita Administration, the Catholic school teacher is responsible for working as a member of an instructional team to deliver instruction that is based on the approved curricula and for supporting St. Rita Catholic School in its mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Abide by all policies as outlined in the Catholic Schools Office Handbook of Policies and Procedures for Elementary and Secondary Schools; TCCB ED Guide to Quality and Effectiveness
- Demonstrate through word and deed, an example of Christian witness, a real pride, confidence, and conviction in the teaching profession and Catholic education
- Work in a collaborative and kind way with all members of the Administration, Dean Team, Student Success Center, and Instructional Team to plan, deliver, and assess instruction according to St. Rita School Policy
- Work with members of the assigned teaching team, including instructional specialists and case managers to differentiate instruction for individual students
- Act as a member of a team by contributing ideas, work products, and behaving in a collegial manner with a cooperative spirit to work with the grade level, team level, and entire school and parish
- Demonstrate empathy in relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and other community members by genuinely considering others' feelings, value systems, interests, achievements, and concerns
- Be punctual, present, and attentive at all duties as stated by the SRCS faculty handbook
- Attend meetings and after-school events as outlined in the calendar
- Represent St. Rita Catholic School at community functions as needed
- Initiate or develop other programs relative to the teaching assignment
- Assume responsibility for acquiring those leadership and teaching skills necessary for fulfilling assigned duties through professional growth
St. Rita School’s Academic and Faith Formation Programs
- Create and foster a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
- Ensure the classroom is in harmony with school rules, procedures, and diocesan and St. Rita School policy
- Guide the learning process and establish clear objectives, select appropriate content, and plan appropriate activities for students
- Develop and use methods of evaluation, formative and summative, that are directly related to curriculum objectives and to concepts and skills taught; consistently and effectively evaluate student progress
- Maintain current and accurate records (curriculum maps, unit maps, lesson plans, grades) according to St. Rita School policies
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and student needs
- Follow and implement the behavior management systems: Virtues Based Restorative Discipline Program
- Using the adopted behavior management systems, establish a consistent disciplinary approach to increase faith practices through education on virtues and the integration of faith through prayer and virtue-based activities

TEAM ASSIGNMENT: Early Childhood Teaching Team
KINDERGARTEN INSTRUCTOR SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Kindergarten teachers will provide experiences and activities that lead children to acquire skills in language and literacy, readiness and writing, numbers and math, and science and social studies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in elementary early childhood education, or a related field from an accredited American university required
- Must meet the minimum requirements for the kindergarten teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCBED.
- Must meet staff development guidelines set forth by the Diocese and school administration.
- Must complete Religion Certification per the Catholic Schools Office and TCCBED guidelines, if applicable.
Special Requirements:
- Preferred practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Must be willing and open to understanding Catholic teachings, required
