St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School seeks an innovative and student-centered Upper School Health & Wellness teacher to lead engaging, discussion-based courses in health, wellness, and sexuality education for 10th and 12th-grade students. Our comprehensive wellness program integrates physical, social, emotional, and mental health dimensions, fostering personal reflection and meaningful conversations. Students explore attitudes, beliefs, and values while engaging in skills-based learning to strengthen goal setting, boundary setting, media literacy, interpersonal communication, and decision-making. The program prioritizes primary prevention efforts that promote health-enhancing behaviors and risk reduction.
The ideal candidate will be an empathetic, skilled facilitator who creates a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment where students feel comfortable discussing complex topics related to identity, relationships, and well-being. They will collaborate closely with colleagues and parents, recognizing that health and sexuality education is a lifelong process and that parents are the primary educators of their children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach interactive, coeducational, discussion-based courses in health and wellness for 10th and 12th-grade students.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages open dialogue and critical thinking.
- Equip students with practical life skills that support their long-term health and well-being.
- Partner with faculty, counselors, and parents to ensure a holistic approach to student wellness.
- Stay informed on contemporary issues in health education and integrate best practices into the curriculum.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A background in health education, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
- Experience teaching or facilitating conversations around health, wellness, sexuality, and life skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with high school students in a meaningful way.
