What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper School History Teacher position at St Stephen's Episcopal School?
St. Stephen's Episcopal School, a day and boarding school of 710 students (grades 6-12), is seeking an Upper School History Teacher for a full-time position beginning August 1, 2025.
Qualified candidates must have experience teaching History or a related field. Preferred candidates will have experience teaching World History, in particular, and working with younger high school students from a diversity of educational backgrounds. The history department seeks candidates who expect to be involved in curriculum development and love working closely with energetic students and a dedicated faculty both in and outside of the classroom.
Duties include :
- Teaching four sections of Upper School History and one single-term elective section;
- Contributing to two other areas of school life, including DEI, athletic or extracurricular programs;
- Serving as a student advisor, supervising students during lunchtime, study halls, recess periods (if applicable), afternoon activities, library, Chapel and assembly programs required of the students, serving as a chaperone at student events, participating in student retreats, community service days, and attending team meetings, as assigned;
- Offering after-school and, sometimes, evening and weekend conferences to accommodate our boarding school students' schedules.
