JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Summary of the Job :
This position considered a working supervisor. In addition to covering bench work as needed, the technical supervisor requires to maintaining the supervisory oversight of the daily activities of the Microbiology section of the clinical laboratory. Responsible for supervising laboratory personnel, conducting and overseeing quality assurance and quality control, and collecting, analyzing, and interpreting lab results. Exercises independent judgment and decision-making skills in the practice of laboratory medicine.Participates in employee performance evaluations, counseling, and commendations.Serves as a role model for staff working under supervision.Complies with organization’s C.A.R.E.S. standards.
Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor of Science degree and National Board Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist. Preferred 2-3 years of Microbiology Supervisory experience. Preferred knowledge of CAP accreditation requirements. Current or Temporary Louisiana license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist (CLS-G).
Physical Demands :
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
