St. Thomas Aquinas College has an opportunity available for a Campus Safety & Security Officer. This position is responsible for providing a safe and secure school environment, fostering an optimal learning environment and acting as a deterrent to unsafe or poor behavior by patrolling the campus, monitoring student behavior, enforcing school and college policies/procedures, intervening in physical encounters, monitoring security cameras, monitoring visitors, reporting unsafe or unhealthy conditions and assisting administrators and/or public officials with emergency or investigative situations. Positions may require varying work hours and days including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To The Following
- Patrol buildings and grounds to ensure security and address unauthorized presence, rule infractions, and irregularities such as fire hazards and leaks.
- Monitor surveillance systems and respond appropriately, including contacting police or fire departments in emergencies.
- Respond promptly to fights, fires, accidents, and medical emergencies.
- Guard against theft of college property and enforce campus rules by expelling violators.
- Permit entry to authorized individuals, check IDs, log visitors, and regulate traffic during daily operations and special events.
- File daily activity reports on property damage, unusual occurrences, and equipment malfunctions, and maintain security logs.
- Oversee and maintain security equipment and radios, and monitor the College phone system when switchboard operators are off duty.
- Handle mail delivery between the Post Office and STAC mailroom during day shifts.
- Provide assistance and information to students, faculty, staff, and the public, and assist with mandated fire drills and entrance control.
- Uphold a professional, courteous, and approachable demeanor at all times.
- 4pm-12 midnight
- 12 midnight- 8am
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Security officer experience preferred
- Requires valid driver's license
- NYS security guard registration
- Cannot have been convicted of a 'NYS crime' or out of state conviction comparable to a 'NYS crime'
- Ability to meet physical demands of the position
- Ability to effectively communicate with others
- Knowledge/use of computers and Microsoft applications beneficial
