Campus Safety Vehicle Operator (Per Diem)

St. Thomas Aquinas College has opportunities available for a Campus Safety Vehicle Operator (Per Diem). This position is responsible for providing a safe and efficient mode of transportation for the St. Thomas Aquinas College Community. Transportation will be coordinated using St. Thomas Aquinas College Vehicles. Individuals must maintain a flexible work schedule (shifts vary - days, evenings, nights and weekends).Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following :

• Drive a college owned or rented / leased vehicle, providing safe and efficient transportation.
• Provides information and other general assistance to the St. Thomas Aquinas College Community.
• Conduct a safety inspection of the assigned vehicle prior to operations and report any damage or issues.
• Maintain records of work performed : makes timely reports of incidents, accidents and unusual occurrences.
• Operates the assigned vehicle in accordance with applicable laws and college regulations.
• Operates the assigned vehicles and transports members of the St. Thomas Aquinas College Community and other authorized passengers as assigned to their destinations in a safe manner.Qualifications :
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must possess a valid driver's license issued in the United States and be allowed to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York and New Jersey.
• Minimum of five (5) years driving experience
• Experience driving vans and larger vehicles preferred
• Successfully complete a driver's history check, criminal background check, employment history check and reference check.
• Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Hear and understand calls for assistance, instructions, emergency announcements, and alarms.
• Work with a diverse population and make decisions independently.
• Operate a motor vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions.
• Be reliable and flexible with the schedule.
• Work part-time with varying hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekdays, and weekends.
• Successfully complete St. Thomas Aquinas College Trainings as required ie : Title IX, Gender Based Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Harassment Training (on the job training within 6 months of hire).
• Certification in First Aid / CPR / AED and trained in the use of NARCAN (on the job training within 6 months of hire).
• Uphold a professional, courteous, and approachable demeanor at all times.Salary Range : The salary for this position is $17.00 / hour.
