Pay rate: ranges between $1,200-$1,600 / depends on education and experience

Job Overview:
Under general supervision, assists a Middle School Track & Field team. The season begins February 24th and concludes May 12th. Practices are held from 3:30-4:45 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Meets are held on Fridays from 3:30-7:00 p.m.
General responsibilities:
- Discusses approach to team dynamics with Director of Athletics and After-School Programs and After-School Programs
- Manages player development based on program core competencies
- Works with the Head MS Track an Field Coach and the Director of Athletics and After-School Programs to create practice plans that are skill appropriate
- Teaches appropriate fundamentals, techniques, and skills
- Is responsible for the health and safety of the athletes
- Articulates a well-defined and understandable coaching philosophy
- Applies developmentally appropriate and age-appropriate methods to coaching student-athletes
- Travels with the team for away meets against other local schools
- Emphasizes sportsmanship and leadership among athletes
- Clearly communicates to players, parents, administrators and staff
- Positively motivates athletes and promotes teamwork
- Attends all meetings and trainings as required by the league and/or Director of Athletics and After-School Programs and After-School Programs
- Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school’s documents, including the Coaches Handbook
- Since safety and security are everyone’s responsibility, takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities; travels with first aid kit at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Education, Training & Experience:
- Demonstrated competence and experience in coaching Track & Field
- Competence and experience in field events: throws, jumps and/or sprints preferred
- Recent successful coaching experience in a Middle School environment preferred
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in related field from a four-year college or university preferred
- Must possess or be willing to obtain valid First Aid/CPR card
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Deep knowledge of the intricacies of the game of soccer
- Understanding of the developmental needs of middle school-aged students
- Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the students and program
- Professional manner, discretion, and appearance
- Sense of humor, energy and enthusiasm and ability to hold students and oneself to high expectations
- Ability to collaborate with assistant coach
- Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff
- Ability to work and communicate well with students and their parents
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills and strong work ethic
- Proficient in appropriate computer skills
- Awareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injury
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, walk, and talk
- Ability to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Some local travel may be required
