As a Cashier Sales Floor Associate, you will work closely with other team members to provide customers with a positive shopping experience at our store in alignment with the mission of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul. This position is a very physical job and we need "boots on the ground" capability and mentality!! You'd be on your feet behind the register. You would interact with customers by determining their needs, answering their questions about our merchandise, and making sales at the register and other needs (processing vouchers), while maintaining a tidy, stocked and organized counter and sales floor when needed. You could possibly be cross trained in other departments to assist other team members when needed. There is never a dull moment!

Based on the staffing needs and goals for the store, in addition as working as cashier you may be asked to work the sales floor; straighten, stock or pull items; or create new displays. It's a fun opportunity to gain retail experience or expand on past experience in a thrift store environment.

Education and Experience

· High School or equivalent required

· Excellent Reading and math skills for retail sales transactions

· English proficiency is required; bilingual is a plus

· Previous experience working in retail or as a cashier is a PLUS, but will train the right candidate

- RELIABILITY and CHEERFULNESS is a MUST

· High level of professionalism and confidentiality when interacting with team members and store customers

· Ability to remain calm and focused during stressful situations

- Ability to physically perform the key functions of the position

- Have reliable transportation to work

- Excellent attendance is a MUST!!

The employee is physically active for the entire shift. Continuously standing and walking; and frequently bending and twisting; fine motor skills for typing on a register, reaching above shoulders with hands and arms; pushing/pulling carts and lifting merchandise and objects up to 25 lbs . The employee must be able to distinguish color tags.
