ACCOUNTANT - JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: 1600 S. Calhoun St., Fort Wayne, Indiana
Status: Part-Time Hourly
Hours: 15-20 hours per week, flexible schedule
Rate of Pay: Commensurate with experience
Reports To: Executive Director
Position Profile:
The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Fort Wayne seeks an individual with bookkeeping experience who is motivated and enthusiastic about supporting the mission of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. This is a part-time position requiring 1-2 days per week on-site with the option to work remotely at times. It requires a commitment to confidentiality, excellent communication skills, and a strong attention to detail in a professional environment.
The individual in this position will be responsible for executing bookkeeping functions for the Society of SVDP, including but not limited to: payroll administration and processing, accounts payable processing, accounts receivable processing, audit preparation, monthly finance reports, tax filings, and other bookkeeping tasks as required.
Essential Functions:
- Process accounts payable: record vendor invoices and bills, issue checks
- Process accounts receivable: post deposits/donations received as journal entries
- Process payroll (bi-monthly), track employee vacation and communicate with external payroll provider
- Reconcile bank statements and balance sheets
- File and process payments for federal and state withholding taxes and unemployment
- Process sales tax calculations, payments, and reports
- Prepare month-end financial statements
- Assist with preparation of annual budgets and analysis of monthly financial reports
- Attend monthly finance committee meetings
- Prepare financial statements and gather information for annual audit
- Work with development team on financial and statistical data for grant writing
- Prepare daily bank deposit in the absence of manager or assistant manager
- Manage employee vacation schedule and other minor HR tasks
- Respond promptly to email communications and maintain files for financial records
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Associates Degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in Accounting
- Minimum of 5 years experience in an accounting environment
- QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel experienceExperience with payroll processing, accounts payable and/or accounts receivable
- Non-profit experience preferred
- Strong technical and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, and confidentiality
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
