SUMMARY:
Under the direct guidance of the Residential Program Manager, this part time position will provide overnight coverage and ensure the safety of the shelter and building. This position requires the employee to remain alert and awake throughout the shift. This is a part-time, non exempt, union position. The position works Friday and Saturday 11:30pm-7:30am at a confidential shelter site.
SALARY AND BENEFIT OVERVIEW: $23.00 per hour plus pro-rated vacation /sick hours and SF healthcare.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the safety and security of the residents by staying alert throughout the shift.
- Provide sole staffing coverage at night: crisis intervention, conflict resolution, peer support, and management of emergency procedures.
- As needed, provide direct client services including individual counseling and emergency support.
- Help the night staff with laundry, clean and set up rooms as needed.
- Conduct nightly interior perimeter and census checks of the entire building.
- Responsible for turning on/off alarm system as needed.
- Responsible to send out a daily end of the shift report via email to the Residential Program manager.
- Ensure that case notes are entered in Salesforce.
- Participate in staff meetings as appropriate and requested.
- Represent Riley Center in community activities as needed.
- Upon hiring, complete the next available domestic violence training offered by Riley Center or another certified trainer.
- Participate in appropriate on-going staff development training.
- Share shelter management duties: maintain donations, clean/set-up rooms, empty trash and recycling, laundry, basic maintenance, etc.
- Participate in on-going cross training to perform duties in other departments of the agency as needed.
- Assist with administrative tasks.
- Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated skills in counseling, case management and client advocacy with children and families.
- Familiarity with Harm Reduction philosophy and approach.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written English communication skills.
- Understanding of domestic violence issues, especially in context to race, class, gender, and sexual identity.
- Ability to use independent judgment and reach conclusions to resolve client issues.
- Knowledge, experience, and comfort working with a diverse community, including LGBTQQ, youth, immigrant, low income communities, and communities of color.
- Working knowledge of community resources.
- Demonstrated commitment to open, direct, and non-violent communication.
- Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and make decisions under pressure.
- Basic Microsoft Word skills.
- Strong initiative and ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a small office.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, volunteers and staff.

Covid vaccination and negative result on TB test required.
