Job Summary: The Facilities Manager is responsible for preserving the good condition of infrastructure and ensuring that facilities are safe and well-functioning. Oversight of janitorial services, planning, and oversight of new projects, as well as executing emergency repairs are duties included in the Facility Manager’s portfolio. Coordination and oversight of outside contractors when needed is an additional part of this job.
Work Area: Thrift Store, Outreach, Warehouse, parking lots, grounds.
Working Conditions:
· Clean, well-lit, and heated facilities.
· Safety equipment provided.
· Occasional exterior work with exposure to the elements.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Inspect buildings’ structures and grounds to determine the need for repairs or renovations.
· Communicate workplace safety, security, and emergency preparedness with employees and ensure proper implementation. Should be assigned safety officer by board. Safety Committee Co-chair.
· Control of Forklift license program
· Schedule and execute daily janitorial services to keep the building’s interior attractive and hygienic.
· Prepare facilities for changing weather conditions.
· Manage upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet governmental and environmental health and safety standards.
· Track and coordinate maintenance and repairs of all company vehicles.
· Plan and coordinate all installations (telecommunications, heat, electricity ect.) and refurbishments.
· Research and manage bids / service contracts from vendors, ensuring service and cost-effectiveness.
· Oversee work of vendors and contractors.
· Prepare cost estimates of facilities and grounds needs to be presented to Board of Directors.
· Review utilities consumption and advise energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
· Perform routine maintenance on facility systems and schedule repairs when needed.
· Collaborate with Board and other Managers on budgeting for facility needs.
· Prepare monthly report on facilities’ activities and present it to Board of Directors.
