Job Title: Production Manager
Reports to: Store Manager
Starting pay is 19.50 an hour
Saturdays are a must
Job Summary:
The Production Manager assists the Store Manager with day-to-day operations and meeting
sales, production and budget goals and providing supervision of employees. The Production
Manager oversees reception, sorting and tagging donations, maintaining production goals
and providing direction for prioritizing departments and categories to be processed. In the
absence of the Store Manager and the Assistant Manager, the Production Manager will
oversee store operations, management, and compliance.
There will be semi-annual evaluations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Production Manager has the following supervisory responsibilities:
- Foster and maintain a sincere, warm, friendly, and helpful atmosphere.
- Ensure prompt customer assistance is provided.
- Ensure interactions and services are provided with dignity and respect to all persons,
without regard to race, color, religious beliefs, sex, gender, language, disabilities,
socioeconomic circumstances, or any other social identities.
- Ensure the telephone is answered in an efficient and courteous manner.
- Maintain a clean and litter-free work area and assist with the general upkeep of the
store, including restrooms, staff break areas and outdoor areas.
- Open and close the store as scheduled.
- Ensure accurate handling of vouchers, cash, check and charge transactions and
accurate documentation of all appropriate paperwork.
- In the absence of the Store Manager, Assistant Manager and Shift Supervisor,
responsible for all cash management in accordance with store policies for bank
deposits, daily receipts, preparation of cash register receipts, etc.
- Oversee receiving, sorting and pricing donations
- Address and document employee, volunteer or customer concerns, problems, etc.
- Intervene and resolve conflicts between individuals in the store, including sending
employees home or asking customers to leave, documenting events and decisions.
- Ensure health and safety standards are followed.
- Log in and out as scheduled.
- Take all scheduled/required breaks.
- Perform other tasks and duties assigned by the Store Manager or other supervisor.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assess production throughout the day and make decisions as to categories to be
prioritized for processing, closing donations (unscheduled), adjusting production
employee tasks and goals, etc.
- Request assistance from the sales floor as needed
- Ensure all merchandise is properly accounted for, priced, tagged and displayed.
- Direct and supervise production employees and volunteers.
- Manage production goal boards and entering donation and volunteer data daily
- Ensure daily/weekly/monthly production tasks are completed (metal recycling, dump,
shed...)
- Schedule and monitor donation deliveries and pick-ups.
- Fill-in for truck drivers as needed
- Monitor sales floor to determine priorities for production
- Train processors and volunteers working in production.
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency and increase revenue
- Actively engage in strategic planning with the Store Manager
- Manage eCommerce (when active)
Required Skill/Abilities:
- Knowledge of the industry and relevant health and safety regulations.
- Strong basic supervisory, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective, positive, and appropriate communication with others.
- Commitment to excellent service.
- Complete basic mathematical functions.
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of basic cashiering and sales practices.
- Knowledge of eCommerce preferred
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2-years’ experience in a progressively responsible cashier/sales role with some
supervisory experience.
- Experience with merchandising, retail sales, and store opening and closing
procedures.
- General knowledge of financial responsibilities and reports.
- Ability and driving record clearance to drive a medium size box truck preferred
(commercial driver’s license not required).
- Experience with eCommerce preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Use of touchscreen monitor and cash register keys.
- Write legibly with an ink pen.
- Read contents on a computer screen.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and bending.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.
